A forensic scientist from the US is being investigated by police after she allegedly used a DNA test to see whether or not her husband had cheated on her.
Ann Chamberlain-Gordon, from Okemos, Michigan, tested her husband Charles Gordon Junior's underwear in state laboratory using specialist equipment to determine whether or not he had been having sex with another woman, the Associated Press reports.
She is under suspicion of using state equipment for "personal" use last September, although during a court appearance in March this year she stated that the chemicals she has used were expired and due to be thrown out, and asserted that she had conducted the experiment in her own free time.
Ms Chamberlain-Gordon told her estranged husband's lawyer during a further hearing in May that she had found the DNA of another woman on Mr Gordon Junior's underwear, and that it was from "another female. It wasn't me".
She works at the Lansing forensics lab, which is overseen by Michigan State Police. They were called to investigate Ms Chamberlain-Gordon after her husband's lawyer wrote to local authorities and media outlets to question improperly run DNA tests at the lab. It is thought that the investigation will be concluded next week.
