An Albanian woman was shot dead by her estranged husband while attending a court hearing for their divorce in Italy yesterday (Wednesday, October 17th).

According to the ANSA news agency, Klirim Fejzo entered the courtroom in Reggio Emilia, a city approximately 50 miles northwest of Bologna, and pointed a gun at his soon-to-be ex-wife Vyosa Demcolli, 37, and her brother Arjan Demcolli. He shot the pair of them and then began shooting randomly, hitting a police officer and his partner's lawyer, the Associated Press reports.

"They were in the waiting room, when the man, apparently angry because his wife had left home, pulled a gun out," Gennaro Gallo, Reggio Emilia of police chief, told Reuters.

Police officer Antonio Turi said: "He was shooting like crazy at everybody."

Ms Demcolli was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. The police officer and her lawyer were not seriously injured but her brother died at the scene.

Police are currently investigating how 40-year-old Mr Fejzo was able to take a weapon into the courtroom.
