A bride-to-be has won £25,000 for her big day after entering a competition where the contestants had to eat as much wedding cake as they could manage in the space of a few minutes.

The event was organised as a publicity stunt for the US reality TV show Bridezillas, a programme which follows women as they prepare for their wedding day, and was held in Times Square in New York City.

Each of the 15 entrants was challenged to eat as many miniature cakes as they could in two minutes while wearing a wedding dress and veil. The winner, Stephanie Floria, managed to put away nine of the little sponge cakes, which were covered in blue icing.

Speaking after her victorious performance, she said: "I didn't train, but I didn't eat breakfast. But there was no strategy. I just ate as many as I could," adding that the lump sum will be extremely useful for her wedding.

"It's going to make a huge difference on little things that I want and I wasn't able to get," she said.ADNFCR-988-ID-18179571-ADNFCR
