Being divorced can be rather lonely, particularly in the face of holidays or special occasions. Valentine's Day can be quite a miserable time for anyone who has or is about to go through a divorce, but according to a US website there are things that people without a partner can do to cheer themselves up.
Divorce360.com questioned its members about what they are planning to do on February 14th and has come up with a list of the top ten ways to 'survive and thrive' on one of the most romantic days of the year.
According to the site, one of the best things that a single person can do on Valentine's Day is give gifts to people they love, which of course does not have to be a spouse, because giving a gift makes you feel good!
It also noted that spending the evening with single friends is a good idea. Mental health counsellor Kristin Cavins explained: "Remember that it's not odd or unusual in any way to be single on Valentine's Day. Right now there are more singles in this country than ever; it's a great time to have a party or go out as a group."
Divorce360 also recommended destroying old love letters from a former partner, hosting a small party at your home, visiting a relative or spoiling yourself by cooking a delicious meal.
