A couple from Australia have got married underwater in Vietnam - the first such ceremony to take place in the country.
Clint Bentley and Tamara Little from Brisbane sailed from the Cau Da Port of Nha Trang City to Mun Island on Friday June 22nd for their special ceremony, which was organised by Vinadive, the Vietnam Diving Center of Vietravel after they contacted the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), Vietnamnet.vn reports.
Their wedding was held approximately five metres underwater, where staff from the diving centre had positioned a table with flowers, and a sign which read Under Water Wedding. The couple were escorted down to the ceremony by diving instructors, where the marriage was officiated by Englishman Clive Carter.
Mr Bentley and Ms Little wore traditional Vietnamese garments over their diving gear, and exchanged rings and kisses. "It is such an exotic and special experience for us," said Mr Bentley.
When they returned to the surface the newlyweds were presented with their marriage certificate, and celebrated by eating wedding cake and drinking champagne. The couple plan to host a large party when they return to Australia.
