Snip threat sees man granted divorce

A man from Taiwan has been granted a divorce from his wife - because she continually threatened to cut off his penis

A man from Taiwan has been granted a divorce from his wife - because she continually threatened to cut off his penis.

The man, identified as Tseng, requested a divorce from the Taoyuan District Court in May claiming that he had been living in fear of his suspicious wife for two years and that her threatening behaviour had placed him on the brink of a nervous breakdown.

She is said to have regularly accused him of infidelity and told him that if he had cheated on her then she would chop off his manhood with a knife that she kept beside their bed. It is thought that she would sometimes sharpen the blade at night as a reminder of her threat, the United Daily News reports.

Tseng told the court that he has been married to Heung for ten years, but when he became a truck driver in 2004 he was occasionally required to work nights. Soon afterwards his wife began to accuse him of cheating on her and would wake him up during the night to question him, threatening him with the knife.

He has been granted a divorce on the grounds that Heung's jealousy made their marital life impossible.
