Protect your wedding, says National Trust

Couple's who are planning on getting married at a National Trust property this year are being invited to take out a wedding insurance policy

Couple's who are planning on getting married at a National Trust property this year are being invited to take out a wedding insurance policy.

The policies are being provided by specialist insurer Ecclesiastical through insurance brokers The Pavey Group, and will be available at over 80 of The National Trust's properties and venues used for civil ceremonies this summer.

Steve Wood, director and general manager of Ecclesiastical's UK insurance business, said: "You get one chance to enjoy your special day so it makes sense to do everything you can to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible.

"Wedding insurance covers any mishaps in the run-up to the day, such as bankrupt suppliers, as well as any unfortunate accident on the day itself such as a torn dress or dropped cake!"

Moreover, for each policy taken out a donation of 15 per cent of the total premium paid will be made to The Trust.

Alice Ogilvie, head of functions at the National Trust, added: "We do everything we can to ensure weddings at our properties take place without a hitch, but some arrangements are simply beyond our control.

"Offering insurance is another part of our service giving customers peace of mind that everything is in hand. A donation to The Trust for each policy sold is an added bonus!"
