Rejoining the world of dating after a separation or divorce is never easy, and if you have children the whole process can be even more difficult.
However, a new book has been published which offers tips and advice on how to make this transitional period easier for those who are newly single, and for their kids.
The Singles to Dating The Right One by Paul A. Falzone suggest several ways in which to make the dating process go more smoothly for the single parent, highlighting the importance of taking things slowly, being aware of a child's emotions and accepting that things will go wrong sometimes.
Mr Falzone writes: "Dating as a single parent is even more challenging than making a career change. Not only are you dating, your child [or children] are also involved.
"They may not understand who this 'date' is or why there is someone unfamiliar in their lives. Children are probably not going to want to share their parent with someone new.
"It's only natural that a child views a new person in their parent's life as a potential threat. Take things slow and in stride and you'll find that things will fall in to place."
