Marriage before career for Jada Pinkett

Jada says marriage will take precedence over career.

Actress Jada Pinkett has revealed that should her film career ever cause problems for her marriage, she would give up acting to save her relationship.

Her latest role, a wife trapped in an unhappy marriage in the film Reign Over Me, has reinforced just how important it is to make a marriage work.

Speaking to the Independent, she said: "Even though you have this union as husband and wife, you can never forget who you are, just simply as yourself.

"If you lose yourself then everything else will fall out. There is no relationship to be had if you don't have a relationship with yourself first."

Pinkett has been married to fellow Hollywood star Will Smith for ten years, and the pair have two children together. The couple's son Jaden Christopher, eight, recently starred with his father in The Pursuit of Happyness.

Speaking about her husband, she added: "I'm aware how busy careers can quickly lead to divorce, but I'm not going to let that happen to us. I'll give up my career before I let it break up our marriage. I made it clear to Will that I'd throw it away completely."
