Guy Richie and Madonna are very happy together despite media reports suggestion otherwise, the British director has revealed.

The couple were thought to have been on the brink of a marital separation following their adoption of two-year-old Malawian boy David Banda, a process which has not been without its problems.

It is rumoured that Madonna made use of her celebrity status to fast-track the adoption, which in turn is said to have put her relationship with her husband under considerable strain.

However, Richie, 39, has insisted that the youngster is now part of the family and that they are all getting along really well.

He told the Daily Mirror: "He's part of the family now. We haven't talked about the adoption for ages - he's part of us. We don't talk about it. We haven't talked about it for the past six months.

"It was only in the first month when the adoption was going through - since then we've all been getting on with our lives and it hasn't been mentioned. That's par for the course. He's part of the family."

Richie married the Queen of Pop in 2000. They also have a son together called Rocco, aged seven, while Madonna has a ten-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from a previous relationship.
