Sir Paul McCartney may have had a somewhat trying year as he and his second wife Heather Mills go through a rather difficult divorce, but the former Beatle has managed to learn a thing or two in the process.
When asked if the past year had taught him anything, McCartney jokingly said that he had learnt "algebra" and to play "B minor" before revealing that his marital separation had helped him to improve his ability to be tolerant.
In an interview with Word magazine, he said: "Obviously the low point was the whole divorce thing. That situation isn't madly great. But there you go. Patience is required. It's happening and I'm working through the process."
What's more, the musician revealed that although he has had some very low points they do not tend to filter through into his music as he is a natural optimist.
"I tend to do hopeful songs in order to counteract the angst. I'm not so good at angst-ridden songs. My natural optimism tends to take over," the 65-year-old said.
