Liz and Arun's marriage money mishap

Elizabeth Hurley and her husband Arun Nayer exchanged vows in two beautiful ceremonies earlier this year; the first held in England and the second in India

Elizabeth Hurley and her husband Arun Nayer exchanged vows in two beautiful ceremonies earlier this year; the first held in England and the second in India.

At the English leg of the couple's nuptials, they wed in a civil ceremony at Sudeley Castle followed by a blessing at St Mary's church, in the grounds of the castle.

However, it has transpired that there has been a bit of a mix-up with regards to payment for the blessing.

Hurley, 42, and Nayar were not charged by the church for the service, which usually incurs a fee of around £1,000. It appears that the Rev John Partington did not charge them because the parish thought that the wealthy couple would be making a more substantial cash 'gift' donation instead.

But it seems that this was not what the newlyweds had in mind, because they decided to donate 12 kneelers for the church.

A spokesperson for the couple said: "Elizabeth and Arun have commissioned a dozen, hand-embroidered kneelers to donate to St Mary's Church at Sudeley Castle, for all worshippers and visitors to enjoy."

Nonetheless, the parish is not best pleased. Parish treasurer Sue Williams told the Independent: "For the choir, organist and vicar to attend, the bill normally would be in the region of £1,000.

"We need money to pay the gas bill, for new hymn books and a new boiler. Kneelers aren't very high on our list of priorities."
