Carlos Santana and his wife are to divorce after 34 years of marriage, legal documents have revealed.
The papers were filed in Marin County Superior Court on October 19th after Deborah Santana moved to dissolve the marriage due to "irreconcilable difference".
Michael Jensen, the acclaimed guitarist's publicist, said that the case is "a private matter and there is no comment".
In her 2005 memoir, Space Between the Stars, Mrs Santana called her husband unfaithful and following the publication of the book he publicly apologised for his behaviour.
"I sincerely apologized to her and to my kids when I wasn't in my right mind and did something hurtful. It has helped me become more humble and to try harder to be the man she wants me to be," he said.
The couple have three children together, aged 17, 22 and 23 and have been business partners as well as spouses.
Carlos Santana has produced a string of classic tracks, including Black Magic Woman, Samba Pa Ti and She's Not There as well as more recent hits such as Smooth and Maria, Maria.
