Oscar-nominated actress Julie Christie and her long-term partner Duncan Campbell have married in a secret ceremony held in India, it has been reported.
Christie, 66, is said to have married journalist Duncan in a ceremony which took place approximately two months ago, although no official announcement about the wedding has been made.
According to the Daily Mail, the film star's older brother Clive, a retired university lecturer, has confirmed news of the wedding. When asked if he had been present when the couple exchanged vows, he replied: "No, we didn't have any involvement."
The couple have been together for almost 30 years but Christie has always insisted that she did not believe in marriage and has previously been quoted as saying: "I don't see any reason for getting married unless you're religious, which I'm not."
The celebrated British star received her Oscar nomination for role in the film Away from Her, in which she portrays an Alzheimer's sufferer. She recently received a best actress gong at the Screen Actor's Guild Awards.
