A former police officer from Chicago wants a divorce from the wife he has not seen for almost four months.
Drew Peterson told the Herald News yesterday (Thursday, January 31st) that he is waiting to see when Stacey Peterson returns and will then file for a legal separation. Mrs Peterson has been missing presumed dead since October last year and her husband is the prime suspect.
However, he has maintained his innocence and reiterated that his spouse has left him for another man. Mr Peterson told the paper: "She ran off with another guy. It's that simple. [Before divorce proceedings can begin] we have to see if she shows up. Then I think we have to wait for a year."
Stacey is Mr Peterson's fourth wife. Kathleen Savio, his third wife, was found dead in a bathtub in 2004. Her body was exhumed after Stacey went missing and her death has been reclassified by officials as a "homicide staged to look like an accident".
