Sir Paul McCartney has undergone a heart operation at a private hospital in London, media reports suggest.
According to the Sun, the former Beatle checked into a Harley Street clinic for an angioplasty in autumn last year, during a time when he was rowing with his estranged wife Heather Mills, after complaining of health problems.
It is thought that the 65-year-old had the surgery in order to clear blocked arteries and help with his circulation.
A source told the paper: "Paul had been complaining about not feeling well and saw a Harley Street specialist at The London Clinic. Tests were carried out and the decision was taken to operate. Paul had the angioplasty in a private hospital. It was all very routine but any work on your heart is a big deal."
The Sun also quoted Macca's representative as saying: "It was a routine medical operation."
McCartney is currently embroiled in a divorce battle with Mills, 39, with whom he has a four-year-old daughter.
