Greg Norman to pay ?50m settlement

Australian golfer Greg Norman has reportedly agreed to pay his estranged wife a divorce settlement of £50 million

Australian golfer Greg Norman has reportedly agreed to pay his estranged wife a divorce settlement of £50 million.

Norman, known as the Great White Shark, separated from his wife after 26 years in 2006 and in December he admitted that he had begun dating Chris Evert, the former wife of Olympic ski champion Andy Mill.

Mill and Evert recently divorced after being married for 18 years. The couple were close friends of Norman and his soon-to-be ex-wife Laura. Norman, 52, is said to be worth around £250 million. The divorce settlement was agreed in a court in Florida and is thought that it will be signed off within the next few days.

However, former air hostess Mrs Norman is said to have asked for an additional £500,000 because there have been delays in the signing of the confidentiality agreement. Upon leaving the court, her estranged spouse told reporters that he was "happy to move on" but admitted that he was sad "that the situation turned out the way it did".

He added: "We wanted to keep it as amicable as possible. It's kind of sad. It hurts a lot of people." Norman then left to fly to New York to accompany former tennis player Evert to the US Open in New York.ADNFCR-988-ID-18273888-ADNFCR
