Greg Norman has been ordered to pay his estranged wife a £125 million pound divorce settlement.
The Australian golf legend, known as the Great White Shark, is reportedly parting with a third of his personal fortune to former spouse Laura after agreeing to the settlement to prevent his lover from appearing in court.
Norman, 52, had an extramarital affair with former professional tennis player Chris Evert, and it is thought that he did not want her to have to reveal details of gifts he had given her, as well as love letters, as evidence of their relationship.
The settlement decision was made last Friday (June 22nd) in a Florida courtroom and while Mrs Norman, 58, was there to hear the verdict, her two-time British Open winning former husband decided not to appear. Both parties have signed a confidentiality agreement regarding the case.
Norman filed for divorce last June, claiming that the marriage was "irretrievably broken". The couple have two children and were married for 25 years. Speaking after the decision was announced, Mrs Norman said: "It's over. We signed a settlement agreement. It's a relief," the Mail on Sunday reports.
