Former Korean news reader divorce rumours denied by mother

Speculation is mounting in Korea that No Hyun-jung, former anchor for news channel KBS, has split up from her husband Chung Dae-sun and the couple are now divorced.

News website Asia Today reported yesterday (Tuesday, November 13th) that Ms Hyun-jung and her spouse have split up and that she is now living in a hotel in Seoul but this has been staunchly refuted by mother.

It is thought that the rumours started when the couple moved to Boston, where they aren't particularly well known and people began hypothesising about their marriage, English.chosun.com reports.

In addition, they are said to attract attention simply because they are famous.

Ms Hyun-jung's mother said: "How come they're trying to make a happy couple divorce?"

BNG Steel, the Hyundai Group subsidiary where Mr Chung works, also denied the rumour, saying: "We, too, were surprised to hear the unexpected news."
