A new internet-based divorce service has been introduced in Broward County, Florida which allows residents to apply for a marital separation using an online application.
The new program is a quick and easy way for people to file for a divorce, make small claims lawsuits and eviction claims all from the comfort of their own homes or while surfing the net at work.
It has been created by Broward County Clerk of Courts and according to Kris Mazzeo, director of the family division, the new service is aimed at those who don't want to pay legal fees.
She noted that applying for a divorce online is quicker than going through the more traditional channels, which in turn will save money, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Ms Mazzeo explained: "It kind of guides you through, it asks questions. Once it knows your name, it will put it in every space it should go.
"People come downtown and it's expensive to park. If we can keep them from making extra trips to the courthouse, it would be great for them."
The service has been based on other programs being used in Palm Beach County and other locations.
