An Australian man who romantically planned to propose to his girlfriend on a boat saw his plans go up in smoke - literally!
Nathan Smith was intending to pop the question to Jessica Charlesworth, 21, while the pair as the pair enjoyed a cruise around Port Phillip Bay, near Melbourne, on a yacht they had borrowed from a friend.
However, Mr Smith was unable to ask his partner to become his wife, because the boat caught fire and sank.
Thankfully the couple were able to escape unharmed, but the engagement ring was lost as it sank along with the yacht.
Speaking to Australia's Nine Network, Ms Charlesworth said: "I smelt this burning smell and Nathan ran down to see what it was.
"Then he ran back up a few minutes later and said we have to get off the boat. We ran down and jumped into the inflatable and the whole thing just went up in flames."
Mr Smith told the Seven Network: "It was a bit disturbing. We nearly fell through the roof.
"It was just so hot in there, things were exploding and [it was] just very quick. It happened in a flash."
