Evans and Piper gain swift divorce

Radio DJ Chris Evans and blossoming actress Billie Piper have been granted a speedy divorce, perhaps paving the way for the flame-haired millionaire to wed his new partner.

The "quickie" divorce seems strangely apt, given the nature of the couple's hasty ceremony in Las Vegas back in 2001, although they actually separated three years ago.

Sources have suggested that Evans is now hoping to marry professional golfer Natasha Shishmanian, who he has been dating for around 11 months.

One friend told the Daily Mail: "Chris and Natasha's relationship has really taken off - he's been telling people she may be The One.

"Throughout their relationship, Billie has been kept in the loop. She and Chris speak virtually every day and she couldn't be happier for him."

Piper was first introduced to Evans when she made an appearance on TFI Friday and their relationship soon captivated the media. After tying the knot, they spent a great deal of time travelling the world, but both have since returned to successful careers in the UK.

The divorce proceedings were heard by District Judge Cushing at the High Court's Family Division.
