The UK's largest practical conservation charity has set up a speed dating system aimed at people who care about the environment.
Based in York, BTCV's 'eco-dating' scheme is designed to encourage single people aged 20 to 40 to attend events that involve the planting of hedgerows, which at the same time give them the opportunity to chat to other singletons at brief intervals.
As reported by the York Press, attendees will be split into pairs on arrival at an eco-dating event and given ten minutes to speak with each other before moving on to a different section of hedgerow and a 'date' with another person.
The new scheme is funded by Breathing Spaces, a national small grants programme, as it is part of a project geared towards restoring local hedgerows.
The first such event is due to take place the weekend prior to Valentine's Day (February 14th) and the charity is hoping that it will be very successful.
