The star of the hit BBC series Dr Who is to sing at his best friend's wedding - and perform The Proclaimers' hit I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles).

David Tennant agreed to perform the tune at the nuptials of Louise Delamere, who is best known for her role as Lia Costoya in the Channel 4 drama No Angels.

The pair became friends when they shared a flat in Glasgow while they both studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Louise, who is marrying Green Wing's Stephen Mangan, is clearly delighted to have secured the services of her good friend.

"David is my oldest mate from drama school and one of my favourite things when we were there was him singing The Proclaimers' 500 Miles," she told the Sunday Mail.

"I was reminiscing with him the other day and I've asked him to give us a rendition at the wedding. When we had singing lessons at college, he used to belt that out and it made me laugh so much - I just loved it," she added.

Louise got the idea to ask David to sing the famous song at her wedding after recently seeing him perform it alongside Peter Kay and Matt Lucas while raising money for Comic Relief.
