US actress Kate Hudson has spoken about her divorce from former husband Chris Robinson and revealed that it was "the most difficult thing" she has ever had to go through.
Hudson, 28, married musician Robinson in 2000 and according to the Oscar-nominated star she realised that their relationship was in trouble after the birth of their son four years later.
She has revealed that after they welcomed Ryder they "both sort of looked at each other and went, 'Something's off'."
In an interview with Vogue magazine, Hudson explained that her divorce was so agonising because has to learn to accept that even though she loved her husband they could no longer be together.
She said: "[Divorce was] the most difficult thing I've ever done in my life. The process of discovering with somebody that you love that you don't ... work is so painful. And thank goodness I did it with Chris. ... we helped each other through it.
"Now we're both single and since the day we separated, we talk multiple times."
Hudson has appeared in many hit films, including Almost Famous, The Skeleton Key and You, me and Dupree.
