American actor Timothy Busfield's second marriage is to end in divorce after 19 years

American actor Timothy Busfield's second marriage is to end in divorce after 19 years.

Busfield, well known for playing White House reporter Danny Concannon in hit drama the West Wing, and his wife Jennifer Merwin are seeking a marital separation on the grounds of "irreconcilable differences"

Court documents filed in Los Angeles Supreme Court on Monday, December 10th revealed that it was Mrs Busfield who had sought the divorce.

The couple are seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 16-year-old son Samuel, the papers said. They also have a daughter together called Daisy.

Busfield, 50, and Merwin married in 1988. He was previously married to Radha Delamarter, with whom he has a son called Wilson. The couple got a divorce in 1986.

The Emmy-winning actor has appeared in several TV programmes besides the West Wing, including Thirtysomething and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip as well as many films such as Field of Dreams and Little Big League.
