Being lonely during the festive season is not the sort of thing that most people would ask Santa Claus for. Indeed, anyone who is looking for love after a divorce will know that Christmas is not the best point in the year to be without a partner.
However, it is not necessarily a bad time to start looking for that special someone, as there will be plenty of other people who will want to find a new relationship too.
According to Joseph Matthews, dating advice expert and author of the book The Art of Approaching, there are plenty of opportunities during Christmas to meet someone new who could potentially be the love of your life.
Mr Matthews explained: "When the weather turns cold and people begin to spend more time indoors, loneliness can really begin to settle in. And then, as the holidays roll around, and our thoughts turn to family, and we see our friends and loved ones come together with their spouses, the fact that you're not in a relationship can become painfully clear."
"The holiday season may seem like an odd time to try and meet someone special, due to people travelling away from home and not having time to date. But it can actually be a great time to start laying the groundwork for future relationships."
