A married couple from Glasgow are planning to divorce after an incident which saw the wife conceal dog faeces in her husband's evening meal.

Jill Martin, 47, had suspected her husband Donald of having an extramarital affair and laced his food with dog dirt, the Daily Record reports.

However, it later transpired that Mr Martin was not conducting an affair and had actually stared a new business venture, which he had not informed his wife about.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard yesterday (May 2nd) that Mrs Martin had been drinking alcohol before she prepared the meal and laughed when her partner began to eat it.

Her lawyer, Terry Gallanagh, likened the case to "an episode of Desperate Housewives" and said that his client had suffered "mental abuse" for five years.

Mr Gallanagh added that the 21-year marriage had sunk to its lowest point and that the relationship had gone "completely off the rails".

During the hearing Mrs Martin admitted assault by concealing faeces in her husband's food. Sentence was deferred for six months, but she has been ordered to stay away from both her estranged husband and the matrimonial home.
