A former South Korean newsreader and her husband are suing a news website which they say falsely claimed that they are divorced

A former South Korean newsreader and her husband are suing a news website which they say falsely claimed that they are divorced.

No Hyung-jung and her spouse Chung Dae-sun filed the lawsuit on Wednesday, November 21st and the couple is seeking damages worth SKW500 million (£262,000). The previous Friday (November 16th) Ms Hyung-jung and Mr Dae-sun also filed libel charges against the site.

The website reported the news that the couple, who live in Boston, got a divorce in July on November 13th, English.chosun.com reports.

According to ACE Law Group, the legal firm representing the couple, they will donate any compensation to a civic group or an organisation which works for people who have been the victim of false media reports.

The firm said: "The couple is suing the head of the news website, the chief editor and the reporter who wrote the article for SKW500 million in damages."
