Mervyn and Barbara Cronan originally exchanged vows in 1957 and had four children together. However, eight years later they got a divorce and each partner remarried.
Mr Cronan later divorced again and Mrs Cronan was widowed. It seemed as though both would spend retirement alone, but in 2005 the former couple met up by chance and they found that their old feelings returned.
Now the pair, from New South Wales, Australia have embarked on a second marriage - 41 years after the demise of their first, local newspaper the Blacktown Sun reports.
They tied the knot on May 13th, 2006, the date of their original wedding, and celebrated with a family barbecue attended buy their four children, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Mr Cronan said: "I'd lived on my own for most of the time and I was pretty set in my ways.
"You can't buy these feelings. Having Barbara back and my four children. Things I never expected."
