A woman who has recently been through a marital separation has had a violent row with her new boyfriend which was sparked by her "messy divorce".

Alison Coulter had been on a night out with her partner Terence James Forsythe when the couple had gotten into a row. They both walked away from the argument but entered into another disagreement when they returned home. During the fight Mr Forsythe pushed his girlfriend over.

They both left their house in Clitheroe, but on their return they started arguing again and this time Mr Forsythe, 47, punched a lampshade before trying to drag Ms Coulter by the leg from their bedroom, the Clitheroe Advertiser reports.

His lawyer, Graham Parkinson, noted that Miss Coulter's former husband was currently on bail after he allegedly attacked Mr Forsythe with an iron bar.

"The problems with the divorce have put them both under a great deal of pressure," Mr Parkinson said. "This row blew up out of nothing and my client is ashamed of the way he behaved."
