When most people consider what they want their wedding dress to look like, they imagine something white, long and elegant. However, there are those who really push the boat out with the gown they want for their big day, such as one young bride from China whose dress was over 200 metres long!

The young woman's fiance, known as A Ken, had originally wanted the garment to be 2,008 metres long as a tribute to his country hosting the Olympics in 2008. However, when it became apparent that this would not be feasible he decided that a 200.8 metre long dress would do just as well.

Zhang Xiaoyun, the owner of the factor where the gown was made, was a bit taken aback by the request but thought it was a very touching idea, Chinese newspaper Guangzhou Daily reports.

She said: "I was amazed to hear that he wanted such a long wedding dress for his fiancee, but I was quite touched by his sincerity.

"Its 200.8 metres long, with 208 butterfly knots and the tail is three metres wide. The whole piece weighs close to 100 kilograms."

It took three months to make the dress and on the happy couple's big day it took almost five hours to arrange it for their photographs, taken at the Guangzhou Sunflower Garden.
