Best man is often most nervous person at a wedding

Tongue tied best men.

The person most likely to be a bag of nerves on a wedding day is not the bride or the groom, but the best man, according to a new survey.

Research conducted by www.mybestmansspeech.com has found that the pressures of giving a speech in public, often for the first time in their lives for many best men, proves too much of a burden and they are overcome with anxiety.

Creator of the website Patrick O'Reilly suggests that the traditional list wedding expenditures, including such things as flowers, dresses, food and venues should now also include professionally prepared speeches.

Mr O'Riley commented: "For many best men, the best man's wedding speech is their first public speech and they are almost speechless with nerves and stage fright at the prospect of giving it.

"They simply don't have control over themselves, with the result that they say uncontrollable things and come out with stupid jokes that, afterward, they wish they hadn't said.

"Why leave one of the most important parts of the entire wedding celebrations in the hands of, at best: a complete amateur, or at worst: a drinking-buddy whom you wouldn't even trust to leave a coherent message on his answering machine?"
