TV presenter Anne Robinson is to divorce her husband after 27 years of marriage.
The 63-year-old, well-known for her role as the acid-tongued host of The Weakest Link, has split from John Penrose due to irreconcilable differences. The couple's spokesperson revealed that "there is no-one else involved".
"There is no acrimony and Anne and John have reached on amicable settlement on all financial issues," he added.
A decree nisi is expected next month. The couple wed in 1980 and although they have no children Robinson has a daughter, Emma, from her previous marriage to former Times editor Charles Wilson.
Commenting on the divorce proceedings, Robinson said: "We have been an enormously important part of each other's lives for a very long time and our friendship will carry on forever."
Robinson, whose catchphrase is "You are the weakest link, goodbye!", worked as a journalist before she found fame hosting the quiz show. She also fronted Watchdog and Points of View and has acquired the nickname the Queen of Mean thanks to her particularly abrasive style of presenting.
