Creating a home

Whether you are driving around with “Just divorced!” balloons attached to your car or adding to Kleenex’s year end profits, the truth has to be faced head on, things have changed since your divorce and life after divorce has begun. 

You would have to be a saint, a masochist or an accountant to enjoy the tedious routine of keeping up to date with all the things that have to be paid and kept in order.

If you are a resident of Albert Square you can always trot round to Dot at the launderette if your ex got the washing machine in the divorce settlement. Otherwise you will have to invest in a new one.

Unless you only eat tinned food, root vegetables and long life milk you will need a fridge and possibly a freezer for your new life after divorce.

If you didn't get custody of the cooker and don't want to spend all of your life after divorce eating out or buying ready meals loaded with god knows what, then you are going to have to buy a cooker.

Buying a more energy efficient fridge or washing machine is unlikely to save the planet from meltdown but as a well known supermarket would say, every little helps.

Getting divorced means that you will almost certainly have to replace a substantial amount of your household goods.  At least half of your stuff has probably been lost in the division of spoils.

If you thought that Coke was just the stuff your children guzzled, how wrong you were.  Learn some new tricks in your life after divorce but don't get the bottles muddled up and give the kids bleach to drink!
