Dress to impress

After getting divorced it’s only natural that you’ll want to start having fun with your friends or dating.  You can find fabulous clothes without getting out of your armchair unless it's to fetch your credit card from your handbag or jacket.

Dressing to impress
Once you appreciate being single and begin to enjoy all that delicious freedom you have at your disposal in your life after divorce, putting on your glad rags for that special evening or day out can really lift your spirits.  Your time is now your own, and you don’t have to compromise about where you go, what you do or what you wear doing it.

So, if you want to maximise your post divorce life you’ll find that a little bit of glamour goes a long way – and we’ve got some suggestions to help you get togged up in style.

Remember that a simple skirt and top or dress in lovely fabric can be transformed with jewellery, a pair of fab shoes and a groovy handbag into a head turning outfit and for men, a decent pair of trousers and a well cut jacket can carry you through most occasions if you accompany them with a smart shirt and a tasteful tie.

That bastion of the British shopping scene, John Lewis, has a small but delicious collection of frocks for those dressing up occasions and a range of lovely bits and pieces and very pretty jewellery to go with them. Look out for gorgeous must have bags from one of the most reliable and best respected names in British retailing.

Don’t forget that underneath that fabulous outfit you need some underwear to match and leading purveyors of knickers on the web, M&S, should be able to sort you out with their massive selection of pants, bras and shapewear (once known rather less glamorously as support garments) to hold in the bits you’d prefer you didn’t have and to give you a more streamlined look. Featuring more brands than you could wave a thong at including a good range of less expensive bras and pants.

The ultimate in refinement in men’s clothing can be found by looking no further than Gieves and Hawkes, London's finest tailoring establishment founded in the late 18th century has moved on to offer a large range and not just for those of a certain age.
Offering clothing for discerning gentlemen with dress and casual shirts traditional accessories including silk ties and a good selection of cufflinks (do men still wear cufflinks?), you can look effortlessly stylish in no time.  Perfect for all you chaps who fancy themselves as James Bond.  Daniel Craig will be shaken, but probably, not stirred.

Austin Reed is also a great place for chaps to go if you want to impress a post divorce date with some very posh togs.  Offering bespoke tailoring and a host of refined and distinctive menswear to choose from, it would be difficult not to find that extra special outfit.  There’s a womenswear section too, featuring some stylishly cut and elegant designs.  Look out for great value promotions as well.

And the moral of the story is....
Dressing up can give you a huge boost and you can have great style at just about any price if you invest wisely.  It’s the perfect way to feel good about yourself and beat the post divorce blues.  If you’re a shopaholic get those fingers walking across your keypad and treat yourself to something right now.
